HANOI: Vietnam’s coal surplus in 2016 could shrink to 2 million tonnes from 3.5 million tonnes expected this year, while in 2017 the country will have to import 5.5 million tonnes, the Dau Tu (Investment) newspaper reported, citing industry and trade ministry projections.
The trade ministry has sought government approval for two major coal mining firms to export 2 million tonnes of the dry fuel this year, the report said.
