NEW DELHI: BMW launches Bridal Fashion week in India. “In India people spend money on real estate, children’s education, marriage and jewellery but not on luxury cars. India has the largest number of affluent people who do not own a luxury car. By combining fashion with luxury, BMW expects to push sales,” BMW Group India president Philipp von Sahr told ANI.

“Indian designers have to be dynamic, precise and accurate while making their products to give their customers joy. BMW also focuses on the same to provide a joy of driving, leading to a good partnership,” he added.

The car has a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, in-line diesel power-train, mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This unit is capable of churning out 313bhp and 630Nm of torque. The car can do 0-100Km/h in 5.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 Km/h.

The BMW India Bridal Fashion week shall see designers like JJ Valaya, Shantanu Nikhil, Tarun Tahiliani and Suneet Varma among others showcase their bridal collections in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad and Chandigarh.

While talking about expansion plans, Sahr talked about recently opened dealerships in Rajkot, Vijaywada and Ludhiana which will help add volume sales. Apart from that, mobile showrooms are being taken to smaller cities like Udaipur. This is to vet whether the city has an appetite for luxury cars and will a showroom be feasible in the city.
