KARACHI: The government is seriously considering levying tax on imported mobiles during the upcoming budget of 2015-16.
A source told Customs Today that during the next fiscal year budget these taxes will be doubled. A proposal to levy tax from the range of Rs 300 to Rs 1000 is also on the table.
These measures are being taken to enhance revenue resources. The sources further revealed that at least Rs 150 tax will be imposed on less price mobiles. Mobiles of medium quality will get increase from Rs 250 to Rs 500 while Rs 1000 instead of Rs 500 tax will be imposed on smart phones.
These sources said that FBR is taking all measures to enhance revenue resources.
