LAHORE: Telenor cellular company’s network remained at the lowest ebb, as customers complained about its failure during recent Pakistan-Zimbabwe cricket series.
During the matches, uploading of pictures to social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram was nearly impossible for the Telenor users, as the network’s downloading/uploading speed was almost zero at the Gaddafi Stadium.
“I have been using the network for a long time and the 3G service provided by the company is very poor, as I am unable to upload pictures taken during the match,” Luqman, a cricket lover, complained at the stadium.
“I am disappointed as I cannot upload my selfies, neither on Facebook nor on Twitter,” he stated, adding that it was despite the fact that he had been paying all his dues on time.
He expressed his disappointment, saying that the government should monitor and take measures to address the plight of cellular companies’ users.
Mrs Rizwan Naqvi experienced the same trouble and said that she could not uploaded match pictures, which was fun to show to one’s family and friends on her Facebook account.
“It took me five minutes to open my Facebook to upload the pictures and selfies I captured during the match, but when it came to uploading the pictures, it took another 15 minutes, which is very sad.”
She highlighted that on the other hand her husband, who is using a different network, was able to upload/download pictures and open Facebook and Twitter without any trouble.
She said that she was sick of the network’s troubles and would soon shift to any other one.
The government and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) should take note of the serious issue and take corrective measures.
It is high time that we stop relying on these ‘not so useful’ mobile networks and switch to useful networks, like Zong and Warid LTE, among others.
