FBR chief yet to visit Customs House, Karachi

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Tariq Bajwa is yet to visit Customs House, Karachi.

FBR chairman is scheduled to hold series of meetings regarding the revenue collection status. Just a week remains before ending of the current fiscal year. FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa will also visit the offices of Inland Revenue Service and Regional Tax Offices RTOs.

Chief Collector of Appraisement-South Nasir Masroor Ahmed, Chief Collector Enforcement-South Muhammad Nazim Saleem, Director General Customs Valuation Muhammad Yahya, Collectors of MCC Appraisement-East, MCC Appraisement-West, MCC Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, MCC Preventive, Additional Collectors and Deputy Collectors will attend the meetings.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Member Customs Nisar Muhammad Ali Khan had already arrived in Karachi on Friday and held several meetings with the field formation officers of Pakistan Customs.

Officers of Pakistan Customs briefed the Member Customs about the current status of revenue collection and recovery.

As the end of FY 2013-14 is approaching FBR is facing revenue shortfall of Rs 170 billion due to dramatic decrease in quantum of imports throughout the year and involvement of Pakistan Customs’ officials in encouraging tax evasion through mis-declaration and under-invoicing.
