ARICA: The Latin American Delegation of the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) is working on the newest edition of the Latin American Congress of Ports that will take place in the city of Arica, Chile, from November 30th through December 3rd this year. This event is organized in strategic partnership with Empresa Portuaria Arica (EPA) with Chile and its ports being the main examples for this summit.

Every year more than 400 port leaders and international experts make this event stand out as the most important business forum in the Latin American port industry. Delegations from the United States, Central America, the Caribbean and South America have already confirmed their participation since Chile is of special interest to the international port community thanks to its recognized position and experience in the industry, ensuring an outstanding quantity and quality of participants. Furthermore, the EPA executives – led by its president Francisco Javier González Silva- are making the arrangements for main political officials and Ministers of Chile to attend given that they have enthusiastically received the invitation to participate in this event.

This year the agenda is exhaustive and will address issues related to “Commitment to Sustainable Development in the Port Industry“; “The Environmental Agenda in the Logistics Chain”; “Optimizing Energy Consumption in the Maritime-Port Industry and Sustainable Port Infrastructure Construction”; “Changes in Maritime Trade Routes and Their Impact on Port Competitiveness”, among other topics. There will also be a special panel on “The Modernization Plan and Sustainable Development at Chilean Ports” and two Round Tables with the presence of the most representative port leaders and officials throughout the continent.

During the event, the Administración Portuaria Integral de Progreso – host of next year’s edition of the Congress-, will officially launch the summit that is going to take place in Mexico in 2016.
