NEW DELHI: Ford India reveals a 4.67 per cent decline in total sales at 11,714 vehicles as compared to 12,288 vehicles in the corresponding month last year. Sales within the country weren’t too good either as in May 2015 domestic sales stood at 4,726 vehicles a 21.92 per cent drop from last year’s 6,053 units. Exports on the other hand grew in favour for the carmaker, as Ford saw 12.07 percent growth at 6,988 vehicles compared to 6,235 units sold in May 2014, Ford said in its financial report released today.

According to the report Ford India doesn’t seem to be too concerned about droping sale as the carmaker is more inclined towards the pre-launch activities of its upcoming ambitious compact sedan the Figo Aspire. During the month, Ford commenced a 10-week long roadshow to showcase the Figo Aspire at 40-locations across 25 cities in India. Customers who visited these roadshows were able to receive a first-hand experience of the car and a sneak peek into features that make the Figo Aspire deliver more than they expect from compact sedans.

Commenting on the same, Anurag Mehrotra, executive director Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India said, “We are really excited and encouraged to see the customer response to Figo Aspire during roadshows. Figo Aspire embodies the aspirations of modern India with its striking good looks, clever convenience and smart technology. This sedan is designed to exceed expectations of customers in every way as it gears for a public introduction in a couple of months.”

Along with the road show Ford has also initiated an experiential consumer campaign – What Drives You – that aims to discover the values and aspirations driving modern India. Popular actor, singer and ace director Farhan Akhtar, has been the face of the campaign. Towards the end of the campaign Ford India will select one-lucky winner becoming the first customer to drive home a brand-new Ford Figo Aspire.
