Govt allocates hefty amount for all sectors: Afzal

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government has allocated hefty amount for the betterment of all sectors, will be announced in fiscal budget 2015-16, Parliamentary Secretary for Finance Rana Muhammad Afzal said on Wednesday.

“We had given priority to education sector and allocated double amount for Higher Education Commission (HEC) as compared to last year. The previous government was aiming to close the HEC,” he said while talking to PTV.

He said the government was striving to alleviate the poverty from the country through its projects including Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). Foreign reserves were up to $ 17 billion, he added.

Rana Afzal said no country in the world was facing same challenges like Pakistan, such as floods, terrorism, energy crisis, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and unemployment.

According to 18th amendment major part of revenue has been given to provinces, he added.

He said the coming budget would be people-friendly and provide relief to the common man of the country.

To a question, he said the continuity of democratic system is essential to bring progress, uplift and prosperity.
