US authorities seized drugs, cash in raids

LOUISIANA: Seven smugglers were arrested and about $60,000 in drugs and cash were seized during an early morning drug raid today in Terrebonne Parish.

At 5:30 a.m. arrest warrants were served by Houma Police, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and State Police SWAT officers at 9034 Main St., 2603 Bryant St. and 2618 Bryant St., all in Houma; and at 409 Champion St., Gray.

Suspects arrested during the raid are being held in the Terrebonne Parish jail awaiting bond hearings.

Arrested were: Kenny Turner, 32, and Amber Turner, 33, both of Gray, charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, illegal proceeds derived from drug transactions, possession of controlled substance, possession of synthetic marijuana, five counts of possession of a controlled substance in the presence of a juvenile and possession of a controlled substance with a firearm.

Turner was also arrested on obstruction of justice charges for attempting to flush heroin down the toilet, authorities said.

— Ricky Moore, 51, and Ebony Wilson, 36, both of Houma, charged with drug racketeering, conspiracy to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm in the possession of a controlled substance and illegal proceeds from drug transactions.

Moore was also charged with the distribution of heroin.

— Michael Nevers, 53, and Larry Hite, 56, both of Houma, charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, possession of Tramadol and possession of drug paraphernalia.

— Damon McKinley, 42, of Houma, charged with distribution of crack cocaine, possession of dogs for fighting, possession of dog fighting paraphernalia, 10 counts of improper tethering of dogs, 10 counts of no rabies control for dogs, 10 counts of no parish license for dogs, 10 counts of animal neglect, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal proceeds from drug transactions.

Dog fighting paraphernalia recovered during the arrest included weighted collars, a dog treadmill and a strength measuring scale, authorities said.
