Karachi: Customs Value of tissue paper jumbo roll determined

KARACHI: The Directorate General of Customs Valuation has determined the value of tissue paper jumbo roll H.S. Code 4803.0000 under Section 25-A of the Customs Act 1969 vide Valuation Ruling No.738/2015.

It was brought to the notice of the Directorate General that tissue paper in jumbo roll are being imported at heavily under invoiced values by certain importers.

The Customs Clearance Data also indicated wide variations in declarations and assessments. Therefore, an exercise was initiated to determine  the Customs value of the subject goods under Section 25-A. Meetings were convened with the stakeholders  on May 19, 2015 wherein their views were sought regarding valuation of subject items.

The tissue paper in jumbo roll under PCT 4803.0000 would be assessed to duty and taxes as follows:

The Customs Values of tissue paper in Jumbo Roll of China and Bangladesh would be $1.15 per kg; of UAE origin at $1.17 per kg; of Indonesia and Thailand at $1.20 per kg and tissue paper Jumbo Roll of Europe, USA and Canada would be $1.35 per kg.

A revision petition may be filed against this Ruling as provided under Section 25-D of the Customs Act,1969, within 30 days from the date of issue, before the Director General, Directorate General of Customs Valuation.
