FBR compiles 9 years assets’ detail of 1100 officers, 150 remain

ISLAMABAD: To ensure good governance, departmental discipline and proper following of rules and regulations, Federal Board of Revenue has succeeded in compiling nine years’ data of 1100 FBR officers’ assets i.e. from 2005-14.

These officers were previously reluctant to submit their documents. Presently, there are still over 150 officials who are not yet added to the list. However, FBR Administration has discontinued the allowances equal to salaries of these officers.

The special allowances are discontinued for three months. In addition to this the names of the officials are also displayed on the web portal. Furthermore, if these 150 officers of the Board fail to submit details of their assets, they will be presented with charge sheets.

FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa has directed the administration of the Board to act strictly according to rules and regulations.

FBR’s Member Admin Shahid Hussain Jatoi confirmed the information and told Customs Today that there will be no compromise on rules and regulations of the institution. He explained that these steps are being taken to improve the performance of the officers and the institution.

Those officers who have submitted details of their assets will be monitored regarding any increase in their incomes. In case there are differences they may face enquiry and compulsion of producing causes and proof of their sources of income.
