Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled sulphur lumps worth Rs 2.55m

FAISALABAD: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad has seized almost 70,000 kilogram of allegedly smuggled sulphur lumps, besides impounding a truck being used for transportation of smuggled items.

Following credible information received through Customs Intelligence Additional Director Muhammad Ismail, a team of intelligence comprising Superintendent Muhammad Tahir, Inspector.Mansoor khan, Saeed Hayat, Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Iqbal, Muzamal Hussain, and others conducted operation to fail a smuggling bid.

The team intercepted a heavy truck bearing Registration No. TLZ-373 loaded with sulphur lumps that had been filled in 54 big gunny bags and asked the driver, Muhammad Wazir to show the import documents of the said consignment.

The driver remained failed on which customs seized sulphur lumps worth Rs 2.55 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 127,000 and also impounded the said vehicle worth Rs 4 million.

The accused persons in this case are Consignor Muhammad. Ayub and Brothers Resident of Quetta, Accountant of H.M Chemicals Private Limited, Muhammad. Farooq Afzal and driver, Muhammad Wazir.
