India Customs seizes gold worth Rs 1.5 crore at Mumbai Airport

MUMBAI: The Air Intelligence Unit of Mumbai Customs claimed to have seized 6.2 kgs of gold, valued at Rs 1.54 crore, in five separate cases.

In the first case, the officials apprehended Naimuddin who had arrived from Dammam in Saudi Arabia and was carrying 434 grams of gold in his rectum.

Another passenger on the same flight was found to be carrying 520 grams of gold worth Rs 12.87 lakh.

The officials also seized an unclaimed bag from under a seat on another flight which had arrived from Dubai. The bag contained 2.3 kg of gold worth Rs 57.68 lakh.

A passenger who arrived from Dubai was found to have concealed 2 kgs of gold in his jeans, while another passenger, who arrived from Madagascar, was caught carrying 970 grams of gold worth Rs 24 lakh in his socks.
