RAWALPINDI: Corps Commander Rawalpindi Lt Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has inaugurated Walking Area and Food Street, established by Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) at a cost of Rs 22.5 million, at Bank Road, Saddar.
The Corps Commander, appreciating the efforts of the RCB, said that the food street would provide the residents a healthy atmosphere and boost trade free from vehicles activities in Saddar.
According to RCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Fahim Zafar Khan, the Food Street has been established at Kashmir Road to Bank Road area and the road has been refurbished with the tuff tiles. He said, now, the motorists would not be allowed to park their vehicles at Kashmir Road to Bank Road area. Only the pedestrians will be allowed to enter into this area.
A parking lot with 200-car capacity was established near Mobi Plaza for Saddar bazar to cater to the issue of car parking for the visitors. He said, We are working to make RCB the best cantonment of the country.
The project for laying underground electricity and telephone cables at Bank Road, Haider Road and Adam G. Road has also been completed. He said the newly constructed flower market would also be functional soon.
