Cotton ginners urge govt not to impose taxes on agri-inputs

MULTAN: Chairman Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association, Haji Muhammad Akram said that the progress of cotton ginning sector in the statistic survey was encouraging.

He stated this while sharing his views with journalists on the Budget 2015-16, adding that the government should provide more relief to the agricultural sector for the promotion of cotton industry in the country. He said that production of cotton played a vital role in the economy of Pakistan and so far the growth of the cotton ginning sector was indicating positive outcomes.

Haji Muhammad Akram also said that the government must give further subsidies to farmers in order to achieve high growth of the cotton in the country.

He said that ginning industry witnessed almost 7.2 percent growth that was all due to the tireless struggle of farmers.

He urged the government to not impose any tax on the cotton seed cake as such burdens would cripple the cotton industry again.
