NATO/ISAF pilferage case: ATT officials raid Bilal Association; seizes computers

KARACHI: On the information given by an arrested person in the pilferage of US Army, ISAF and NATO cargo, a team of the Directorate of Afghan Transit Trade (ATT) raided the offices of Bilal Associates in Clifton, Karachi and confiscated all the office record.

The team took away all the record available in the office including the computers. A detailed analysis of the e-mail history establishes that the company had direct involvement in the pilferage.

It may be mentioned here that the manager of Bilal Associates, Suhail, is already under arrest, and on his revelation this raid was conducted.

The ATT is terming it a major achievement which would help them in investigation regarding the pilferage of the US Army/NATO/ISAF cargo.

After having threadbare discussions with other officers of transit trade including Director Wajid Ali and Deputy Director Shoib Raza, the Director General Khawar Farid Manika gave a go ahead to this raid which later proved successful.

It may also be mentioned here that the ATT had arrested two persons including a broker of vehicles, Tikka Khan and Sohail of Bilal Associates.

It is important to note that despite being a bonded carrier themselves, they considered to use the name and the license of Port Connection for the transportation of US Army/NATO/ISAF cargo, disclosed an officer of the concerned department.

The Directorate General of Transit Trade had already lodged FIR pertaining to 21 containers of US Army/NATO/ISAF reverse cargo, which were emptied in the country, drivers of 11 vehicles on which these containers were loaded had also been arrested.

Startling disclosures are expected soon in this case as the investigation is being done on fast pace.
