WASHINGTON: Jim Wells County Sheriff Deputy Robert Waldrop seized 78 pounds of marijuana on Highway 281, according to sheriff officials.
41-year-old Celia Contreras of Edinburg, TX and 18-year-old Jasmine Garcia of Edcouch, TX, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
The women were driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer when Waldrop initiated a routine traffic stop, Waldrop stated.
The deputy made contact with Garcia who stated they were headed to Arlington, TX. Garcia gave the deputies verbal consent to search the vehicle.
21 pounds of marijuana was located in a suitcase and duffle bag in the cargo area of the vehicle, Waldrop explained.
The women were transported to the JWC jail.
