LAHORE: Punjab government proposed heavy taxes on air tickets in Budget 2015-16, under this proposal tax will be imposed from Rs 1,500 to Rs 10,000 per ticket according to travel distance.
According to the details, Rs. 2500 tax will be imposed on flying within the premises of Punjab province and travelling up to 500 kilo meters. Rs. 1500 will be imposed on travelling less than 500 km. Rs. 5000 tax will be imposed on the Economy and Economy Plus classes of international flights, while Business class and First class tickets will be taxed by Rs. 10,000.
Diplomats and the Hajj, Umra aspirants will not be taxed while 16 percent tax will be imposed on chartered flights.
