LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional tax office-I (RTO-I) Lahore issued notices to customs, Inland Revenue and other relevant authorities to ban the imports of Lucky Steel Foundry Works Private Limited in order to recover the evaded amount of Rs 28.73 million.
As per the details, an order was passed by the assistant commissioner of RTO Lahore, Inland Revenue’s Enforcement Unit-V, in February 2015, in which Lucky Steel Foundry was ordered to pay evaded tax amounting to Rs 27.32 million, besides depositing the penalty amount of Rs 1.41 million to the national exchequer.
However, the accused was reluctant to pay taxes, on which the RTO issued notices to all authorities concerned to recover the aforesaid amount from the money of said tax evaders which may be under their control.
The notices were issued to customs, Inland Revenue and other tax collecting authorities in exercise of the power conferred under Section 48(1) (a) of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 and read with rule 71 (2) (a) of Sales Tax Rules, 2006, by Inland Revenue Deputy Commissioner Bilal Zamir.
Collectors of Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement in Karachi, Faisalabad, Sambrial, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Bin Qasim, Multan, Quetta and Hyderabad were issued notices.
On the other hand, the commissioners of Inland Revenue of Lahore, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Islamabad, Hyderabad, Multan and Karachi were also issued notices in this regard.
Besides, the RTO has also issued a notice to Lucky Steel Foundry Works Private Limited located on Band Road, Karol Ghati Industrial Area, Lahore.
