ABUJA: The Controller of Customs in charge of Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A, Turaki Usman Adamu, has said that smuggling costs Nigeria hundreds of millions of naira monthly.
The Customs boss said this in reaction to the seizure of goods worth N65 million by the monitoring team posted to Idiroko border.
“The team leader, Deputy Comptroller Yahaya Biri Usman, who led the operation confirmed that he mounted surveillance along some of the unapproved routes and that resulted in the interception of the good,” the Customs boss said.
He expressed optimism that the anti-smuggling strategies being articulated by the FOU would yield the desired results.
