Multan Customs seizes laptops, mobiles accessories, watches worth Rs 3m‏

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range has seized smuggled laptops, mobile accessories and watches during an operation.

According to details, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan received a credible information from their source that smuggled goods are reserved on Hazara Express train. Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Nisar Ahamd formed the special team under his supervision for the crackdown against the smuggled goods on Sadiqabad Railway Station.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range staff was deployed at the Sadiqabad Railway Station to seize the smuggled goods.

When the Hazara Express reached at Sadiqabad Railway Station Platform No .1 Customs Intelligence and Investigation staff raided and recovered the smuggled goods from the train.  The recovered smuggled goods were concealed in the polythene bags to avoid from law enforcement agencies.

During the operations a batch of branded HP Intel Core Laptops of i3,i5 including the imported branded watches and huge accessories of the mobile phones were also recovered from the smuggled goods. The smuggled goods were concealed in the 10 isolated polythene bags to dodge customs teams.

The smuggled goods were booked by the representatives of the Mehran Cargo Karachi to the owner of F.M Computers Rawalpindi as per documents of the goods. Superintendent Ghulam Fareedudd Din ,Intelligence Officer Muhammad Arshad Imran Elahi and Naseem Mehmood Cheema  have accomplished the operation against the smuggled goods.

The seizure value was about Rs.3 million and the duty taxes involved in the smuggled goods were almost Rs.2.5 million .No arrests was made in the operation from the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range.

Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Nisar Ahmad told Customs today that smuggling is a serious offence and Customs will take continuous action against smuggling activities to curb smuggling in the jurisdiction.

Nisar told that Customs Intelligence and Investigation is committed to tackle smuggling in the region with its all available resources.

An advance information report was registered against the smuggling goods after seizing them. The smuggled goods were seized under section 15, 16 & 187  along with 2 (s) punishable under section 156(I) 89,9o & 178 of the Customs act 1969 .
