HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks ended the morning session 0.34 percent higher Wednesday following a positive lead from Wall Street ahead of the conclusion of a key US Federal Reserve policy meeting later in the day.
The Hang Seng Index added 89.45 points to 26,656.15 by the break, on turnover of HK$63.86 billion (US$8.24 billion).
In mainland China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropped 1.26 percent, or 61.69 points, to 4,825.74.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, fell 1.54 percent, or 45.54 points, to 2,917.12.
