SINGAPORE: Non-oil domestic exports (NODX) in Singapore unexpectedly fell by 0.2 per cent in May from a year earlier, dragged down by a dip in electronic shipments to markets in China and Europe, official data showed on Wednesday.

The drop, after a 2.2 per cent growth in April, was against market expectations of a 2.3 per cent rise, data released by trade promotion agency International Enterprise (IE) Singapore stated.

NODX exports to all 10 majors markets declined year-on-year, except to the US, South Korea, Thailand and Hong Kong, while markets in Indonesia, China and the European Union led the contraction.

Non-oil re-exports (Norx) also fell by 2.7 per cent in May 2015 year-on-year, following the 2.1 per cent decline in the previous month, due to decrease in electronic and non-electronic Norx.
