YPA lauds govt’s step to give Rs2 million loan to skilled youth

LAHORE: The young pharmacists have lauded the government’s initiative of granting Rs2 million loan to the educated and skilful youth.

Young Pharmacists Association (YPA) President Dr Nabeela Latif, General Secretary Dr Haroon Yousuf, in a joint statement, said that the practice would produce good results for the progress and growth of Pakistan. They said that the young Pharmacists urge Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to intervene to demolish the current artificial blockade in the growth of Pakistani Pharmaceutical Industry.

They said that the young pharmacists are ready to develop pharmaceutical units in Rs2 million, which would not only be cost effective but YPA will also produce best quality medicine at very low price.

“We will not only export generic medicine globally but also export high-tech medicine globally. We will block the import bill of medicine. We will earn $15 billion foreign exchange annually for Pakistan by export of quality medicine globally by 2025. We will export medicine to USA and Europe. We will develop FDA of USA and EU approved plants in Pakistan,” they added.

They said that the pharmaceutical industry in India is the world’s third largest in terms of volume. According to the statistics given by Department of Pharmaceuticals of the Indian Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, the total turnover of India’s pharmaceuticals industry between 2008 and September 2009 was $21.04 billion. Now it has reached up to $25 billion export. The industry has a market share of $14 billion in the United States.
