FBR contacts FIA for action against social media pages using FBR’s name

ISLAMABAD: Following the directives of Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Tariq Bajwa, the FBR has officially sent a letter, demanding action against those are illegally using the name and logo of the department on social interactive media, to Federal Investigation Agency.

As per instruction of FBR chairman, Member Facilitation and Taxpayer Education (FATE), Nadeem Dar wrote a letter to member Information Technology to initiate legal action under cyber crime law against the accused who are operating such fake pages on social media and to block the pages.

On the other hand, member FATE acting upon the instruction of chairman has sent a letter to FIA, while anti-cyber crime wing of FIA has started investigations into the case.

Besides, to restrict the fake accounts in future, the officials have suggested the chairman to make official pages of FBR on all social media websites including Facebook, Twitter and others.

Official informed Customs Today that FBR will soon launch its own page on social media to keep up-to-date all the taxpayers as well as common people about the taxation system.
