PDWP okays 17 development projects worth Rs 37.4 billion

LAHORE: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) Punjab, during its 48th meeting in the current fiscal year 2014-15, has okayed 17 development schemes worth Rs 37.4 billion.

These schemes were approved under the chairmanship of Punjab Planning and Development (P&D) Board Chairman Irfan Elahi. P&D Provincial Secretary Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary along with other members and senior representatives of the relevant provincial departments attended the meeting.

According to P&D spokesman, the approved development schemes included the construction of signal free junctions at Qainchi, Ghazi Road and Khaira, Lahore, at the cost of Rs 6,508 million, construction of Canal Express Way from Gatt Wala Bridge to Sahian Wala (M-3) Interchange, Faisalabad, at the cost of Rs 6,738 million, provision of sewerage system for UC-117, 118 and 120, Lahore, at the cost of Rs 6,438 million, WASA drains rehabilitation (Bird Wood Drain, Central Drain and Cantonment Drain) from Multan Road to Babu Sabu, Lahore, at the cost of Rs 2,721 million, Linear Accelerator at the Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology, Nishtar Hospital Multan, at the Cost of Rs 325 million, provision of residential colony of Ghazi Khan Medical College, Dera Ghazi Khan, at the cost of Rs 278 million, selective lining of irrigation channels in Punjab Phase-III at the cost of Rs 2,500 million, augmentation of desalting capability of irrigation department, Punjab, at the cost of Rs 275 million, construction of interchange at Saggian Chowk, Lahore Ring Road Project (Package-4), at the cost of Rs 2,186 million, duplication of Eastern Side Bypass, district Gujranwala, at the cost of Rs 915.3 million, duplication of Gujranwala-Sialkot Road district Gujranwala and Sialkot, at the cost of Rs 2,102 million, Widening/Improvement of Kahuta Karot Road via Khalool, Rawalpindi, at the cost of Rs 585 million, construction of New Bhoun Bypass, district Chakwal, at the cost of Rs 175.7 million, construction of bridge over River Indus Near Miran Pur, linking Arbi Tibba with Rahim Yar Khan, at the cost of Rs 2,125 million, duplication of Sahiwal-Arifwala Road, district Sahiwal and Pakpattan, at the cost of Rs 1,521 million, construction of bridge on River Ravi at Qutab Shahana in district Sahiwal, at the cost of Rs 1,757million and capacity building of Directorate General Monitoring and Evaluation (DGM&E) for improved project planning, monitoring and evaluation of development project in Punjab, at the cost of Rs 244 million.
