CM Malik takes stern action over contaminated water supply in Quetta

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, taking action on the reports that contaminated water is being supplied to the citizens of the provincial capital, has said that an inquiry will be conducted to probe into the matter.

While responding to a point of order raised by PML-N’s Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani in Balochistan Assembly, the CM said that  stern action will be taken against elements found involved in supply of polluted and contaminated water.

Durrani said that the people of Quetta were being supplied contaminated water. She also presented a bottle in the House which was filled with contaminated water.

Minister for WASA Nawab Ayaz Jogezai said that digging for laying of sewerage system had damaged water pipelines and Rs 500 million was allocated in the budget 2015-16. He said that water supply from Spin Karez Dam to Quetta had been decreased to 0.1 million gallons from 0.8 million gallons due to depletion of underground water level.
