KARACHI: SM Muneer, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui, President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) have expressed deep grief and sorrow over losses of more than 750 precious human lives due to ‘killer heat-wave’ in Karachi.
In a joint statement, they said that this was a natural calamity but shortage of electricity and water had made the situation worst.

They said that due to scorching heat, the normal life was badly disturbed and the victims of high heat index were unable to find places in hospitals for treatment and those killed due to this were not able to get places in mortuaries.
SM Muneer lauded the efforts of Pakistan Army for helping out the people in this scorching heat adding that Pakistan Army was always playing a laudable role in defending the people in other countries by natural calamities such as earthquakes and floods.
CEO TDAP said that 22 heatstroke centers have been set up by Pakistan Army and Rangers to ensure relief to the general public. He also appreciated the Pakistan Army for their assistance to other civil administrations.
S M Muneer appealed the business community to help out the victims through all possible ways.
Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui, President, KATI termed the killings as a great tragedy and said that the government should use all available resources to help the victims. He said that the government should ensure uninterrupted supply of water and electricity to avoid further losses of human lives.
