Ministry of Water and Power raises objections on Gepco project, seeks more details

SIALKOT: Ministry of Water and Power has several raised objections on a project proposed by Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) to build five new electricity grid stations in Gujranwala Region. The project will cost Rs 20 billion.

The ministry has sent the project summary back to Gepco after raising objections and advising it to send complete details of the project.

According to the details, the Gepco had chalked out a plan to set up five new grid stations in Gujranwala Region at a total cost of Rs 20 billion to improve electricity transmission and supply systems. The plan was also aimed at reducing the load shedding of electricity besides ensuring the advanced and better services to its customers. The project was also aimed at to develop the capacity of dozens of the electrical feeders and to establish more transmission lines.

Gepco had sent this project to Ministry of Water and Power for final approval, but the ministry has sent it back to the Gepco after raising several objections and seeking clarifications.
