FBR attaches Ayyan’s bank account, recovers Rs 3.5 million

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue has seized bank account of model Ayyan Ali in Karachi and recovers Rs 3.5 million.

According to FBR spokesman, the action to seize Ayyan’s bank account was carried out by Regional Tax Office, Karachi. The amount confiscated from the account will be adjusted into the income tax due on the model, imprisoned in Adiala Jail. Earlier, the Lahore High Court on Friday heard the bail petition of model Ayyan.

During proceedings the model’s lawyer Latif Khosa informed the LHC that his client had been imprisoned for four months without committing a crime.

The government’s lawyer sought more time for the reply in the case, while Latif Khosa argued that the government was using delaying tactics.  The hearing of the petition has been adjourned till June 29th June, 2015.

Ayyan Ali was arrested by Customs officials at the Islamabad airport for carrying US $0.5 million on a Dubai bound flight without informing authorities.
