MEXICO CITY: A Mexican man died on the east side of Nogales after making an illegal border-crossing.
Nogales police responded to a medical call at the Circle K, 360 East Patagonia Highway, where officers met with a man who said his brother-in-law had collapsed a half-mile away.
With the assistance of Border Patrol agents, Nogales Police Department officers then located 25-year-old Adan Ernesto Alvarez Vasquez of Temazula De Gordiano, Jalisco.
“The victim had crossed into the U.S. illegally and was walking in the canyons behind the Bar K S Ranch area and felt sick and stopped to rest and got visibly worse,” said NPD Lt. Carlos Jimenez. “Help was sought by his companions, but when it arrived it was too late.”
Police said Alvarez and his brother-in-law had both crossed into the U.S. illegally.
Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies recovered the body of a yet-to-be-identified male from the Patagonia Mountains that same day. Officials believe that the victim was also an undocumented border-crosser.
