Punjab govt devising plans to attract investment in key sectors: Basit

LAHORE: Chairman Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PIBT) Abdul Basit has said that agreement between a Chinese company and Punjab government for 300 megawatt solar power project under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would not only help resolve the energy crisis but would also pave way for huge foreign investment in the Punjab.

In a statement issued here Saturday, Abdul Basit while congratulating the Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, business community and masses, said that soon a number of agreements would also be signed for big projects.

Abdul Basit said that completion of CPEC would bring progress and prosperity in the country.

He said that chief minister Punjab had already pledged to make Punjab a hub of economic activity and investment in the province was being promoted through a well planned strategy.

Chairman PBIT said that all the stakeholders were being taken on board to get their important feedback to make the Punjab a prosperous province.

He said that Punjab government was addressing all the key issues on priority basis to improve investment scenario.

Abdul Basit said that a number of sectors in Punjab including infrastructure development, coal, energy, agriculture, livestock, textiles and pharmaceutical offer lucrative investment opportunities to the potential investors. He said that a proper marketing strategy would be evolved to attract investment in the said sectors.
