WESTON: The project was awarded to Joe’s Contracting of Jane Lew at an estimated $41,120.48; the lowest bid for the service The Lewis County Commission on took steps to update lighting throughout the historic courthouse and learned that county owned property has seen a significant increase in value.
Commission President Agnes Queen said the current lighting system is outdated, and parts for it are no longer produced, so the entire system will be changed to LED lighting. Two other company’s bids were reviewed as well.
Queen said the system will have to be replaced after hours so that lights won’t be off during the day. Replacing all the fixtures after hours could take months. Queen said the commission received a West Virginia Courthouse Facilities Improvement grant to cover 80 percent of the cost of the lighting system
