DEHRADUN: Three persons were arrested and over two kilograms of charas was seized here the other day while the miscreants were on their way to Haridwar after purchasing the narcotics in Uttarkashi.
Besides the contraband, a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, a motorcycle and over Rs 80,000 were also recovered from their possession.
“Around 4:30am, the Dharasu police team spotted two suspicious persons on a motorcycle and stopped them. When the duo was asked to produce the vehicle’s documents, they fled. The police team chased and caught up with the two who were promptly put under arrest,” said Uttarkashi SP Jagatram Joshi.
The two bikers were identified as Haridwar residents Sabe Naseeb and Farzan, who bought charas in Uttarakashi and sold it to clients in Haridwar at escalated rates.
During questioning, they revealed that the drugs had been purchased from Bhupinder Singh Rawat who lives in Maneri.
Soon after, the cops nabbed Rawat who was asked by Naseeb and Farzan over the telephone to meet them near Malla Bhatwadi.
“A case has been registered against the three of them under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and Arms Act at Maneri police station,” SP Joshi said.
