OTTAWA: The fans in Canada can now pre-order Pebble’s third Smartwatch model, Pebble Time, from Best Buy. The watch is available in black, white and red and comes with a price tag of $249.99 CAD ($203 USD) with free shipping in Canada.
Pebble Time was first offered to Kickstarter sponsors. The company successfully raised $20 million with Kickstarter program. Pebble started accepting pre-orders for its latest wearable in the US earlier this week. According to Pebble, the $199.99 model, presently available through Best Buy, will be dispatched in the US by 20th July. In Canada, Best Buy hopes to deliver the watch no later than July 27th.
The latest Pebble watch model is Pebble’s most costly model to date, and comes with various improvements over its predecessors. It boasts voice control capacities, full-shading e-paper display with Gorilla Glass, plastic casing, health tracking, and an improved OS. The second-generation model retains the water resistance feature and seven-day battery life available with previous two Pebble watches.
At 9.5 mm, Pebble Time is thinner than the original Pebble watch. It weighs 42.5 g and has dimensions 40.5 x 37.5 x 9.5 mm. The Timeline feature of the watch lets users organize important apps and also flip through present, past, and future events in chronological sequence. The device supports both Android as well as iOS platforms.
Pebble app store offers over 8,000 smartphone apps which are compatible with Pebble Time. Users can load as many apps as desired. The original Pebble and Pebble Steel had limitations of holding only eight apps at one time.
