MEXICO CITY: Mexican police arrested a 20-year-old alleged assassin for the Sinaloa drug cartel accused in more than 20 killings after a gunfight at the man’s safe house last week.

Felipe Quintero Saavedra — allegedly the Sinaloa cartel’s top hitman in the southern region of Chihuahua — was arrested by state police at the safe house in Parral, according to a news release from the Chihuahua attorney general’s office.

Photos show Quintero, also known as “El Iraky,” with several tattoos — at least two depicting the grim reaper and one of his alternate moniker on his neck.

“My tattoos represent the covenant that I have with death, the 11 lives that he gave me have been fading,” Quintero told investigators.

The El Paso Times reported that police arrested Quintero following a high-speed motorcycle chase and gunfight.

Inside the house, authorities allegedly found four AK-47 rifles hidden under a mattress, tactical garb, bulletproof vests and plastic bags of marijuana, according to the news release.

Quintero joined a gang at age 10 before he wound up in the cartel, the release said.
