KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has set a target of Rs 61 billion for collection of sales tax on services in the province in the fiscal year 2015-16, Customs Today has learnt.
The chief minister lauded the efforts of Sindh Revenue Board for surpassing the tax collection target for the fiscal year 2014-15 i.e. Rs 49 billion and assigned the officials for more collection, according to sources.
Media consultant of the Sindh Revenue Board, Zafarullah Shaikh, told Customs Today that the Board had always exceeded its budgetary target since its inception.
The Board has chalked out a plan to substitute the existing positive list of taxable services with a negative list implying that all services shall be liable to tax except the ones specified in the negative list schedule.
This will make the tariff Schedule simpler and dispute-free, which, in turn, will reduce litigations and classification disputes, he added.
