NEW YORK: Google integration to combine Google Hangouts with the smartphone calling suffers technical issues. The issue has been highlighted recently, as users started reporting the bug on the Android support pages.
Google recently integrated Hangouts with the smartphone SMS. The Google Voice Integration with SMS occurred in September of 2014, which had extended to Hangouts on Gmail, Google Plus, and the web browser. The integration also helped users switch between the Hangouts app and the default messaging app on the smartphone midst of a conversation by clicking the phone icon on the right side when starting a new conversation. What made the feature more user-friendly was a notification on the top of a conversation which displays whether Hangouts is sending an in-app message or a SMS message.
The recently discovered bug prevents instructions via Google Voice to send out Hangouts message. The issue lies within the Hangout app, where it solely communicates within Hangouts and not extends to other applications. Although this was positive for the company as it increased app downloads and traffic which resulted in a bottleneck which was then integrated with smartphone SMS feature.
Google has not yet commented on the bug issue, highlighted by the Android Community but understanding the hype this has created in discussion blogs and the community pages, a bug fix is expected to roll out soon. It would be only a matter of time till users shift to other messaging apps that have SMS integration running successfully.
