Customs central region exceeds revenue target, collects Rs 129 billion

LAHORE: Customs Central Region has collected Rs 129 billion duty and other taxes registering an increase of one percent for the financial year 2014-15 against Rs 127 billion during the same period last year.

According to details, MCC Lahore Appraisement collected Rs 54 billion against target of Rs 53.90 billion registering two percent increase while the MCC Lahore Preventive registered 19 percent growth by collecting Rs 29.84 billion against the target of Rs 25.06 for the financial year 2014-15.

MCC Customs Multan, however, failed to achieve target and collected Rs 38.02 billion against the target of Rs 42.26 billion registering a losses of 10 percent for the financial year 2014-15.

MCC Faisalabad, however, collected Rs 6.52 billion against the target of Rs 6.43 billion registering growth of Rs 1 percent for the financial year 2014-15.

All the Collectorates on the instructions of Chief Collector Rozi Khan Burki made strenuous efforts during the last month of June and made it possible for the central region not only to achieve the target for the period under review but also accede it by one percent, sources told Customs Today.

The sources further said that the month of June was very important with view to revenue collection and the Collectorate collected billions of rupees revenue to cover up the deficiencies during the preceding months of financial year 2014-15, it was reported further.
