FBR to publish biweekly list of active taxpayers

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will publish a list of active taxpayers on a fortnightly basis to promote the culture of documentation.

In the budget 2014-15, the government had introduced higher tax rates for non-filers and the FBR published a directory in April this year to reveal the names of tax defaulters.

The board will publish the list of active taxpayer and it will be available on the board’s website on the first day of March.

Meanwhile, the tax authorities have already issued facilitation cards to the top 400 taxpayers. Those who have filed their returns for 2013 would get these cards at their doorstep by September this year. The cards will be valid until February 28, 2015.
In case the returns are filed after December 31, the cards will be issued within 60 days of the filing of returns.
Moreover, a person will be issued taxpayer card if return is filed under section 114, or a statement under section 115 for the tax year. The list will be updated on 15th of every month.
