Sialkot FIA detains 89 human traffickers in June 2015

SIALKOT: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested as many as 89 human traffickers, including proclaimed offenders (POs) during a crackdown against them in Gujranwala division in June 2015.

Deputy Director FIA Gujranwala, Sikandar Hayyat Malik said that the FIA has also recovered as many as Rs 24 million from these human traffickers, which they had extorted from the innocent people on the pretext of sending them abroad, especially Turkey, Iran, Muscat, Greece, Spain and other Gulf States.

He said that FIA arrested as many as 44 human traffickers-cum-notorious proclaimed offenders (POs), besides arresting the main accused Zafar Iqbal Alias Bholla from Mandi Bahaud Din. He said that the FIA registered as many as 43 new cases of human trafficking in June 2015 and arrested all the accused nominated in these cases.

He said that FIA had fined Rs 1.8 million to four accused for stealing gas and six big accused for electricity pilferage in Sialkot.
