Commerce Ministry dismisses petition against LCCI polls

LAHORE: The Commerce Ministry has dismissed allegations of irregularities in the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) elections 2014 exonerating present management of the LCCI of all exaggerated allegations, the LCCI spokesman said here Tuesday.

He said that according to Ministry of Commerce’s order, “After hearing the parties at length, perusing the relevant record and relevant provisions of law and rules, it is held that the elections of LCCI for the year 2014-15 were conducted in accordance with relevant provisions of Trade Organizations Act, 2013 and Trade Organizations Rules, 2013. The appellants have failed to provide any evidence that the Annual General Meeting was not concluded. Hence, the appeal is hereby dismissed.”
