OTTAWA: It started out as a disturbance call, but ended with Ottawa police stumbling on a grow-op.
Ottawa police say they got a call last Thursday shortly before 10 p.m. about a disturbance at a home in the 1200 block of Kilborn Avenue.
But when the officers arrived at the scene, they soon found a marijuana grow-op.
They called in the drug unit, got a warrant and seized a cache of drugs, including:
949 marijuana plants (worth $949,000);
9.5 pounds of marijuana (worth $20,000);
10 pills of methamphetamine;
0.4 grams of powdered methamphetamine; and
a digital scale, packaging and document.
Rene Letourneau, 34, of Ottawa is charged with unlawful production of an illegal substance, possession for the purposes of trafficking, theft of electricity and unlawful possession of an illegal substance.
Police are now looking for a second man, whose name they are not releasing until he is arrested and charged. The drug unit is still investigating.
