Earlier in the day, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), a Eurasian security bloc that is about to accept Pakistan as its full member.

Sharif said Islamabad had filled in all paperwork on the pipeline construction and expected Russia to ink the deal shortly.

Last December, Rostec announced that its subsidiary, RT Global Resources, was going to construct oil and liquefied natural gas pipelines and terminals in Pakistan. It estimated the total cost of the project package at $3 billion.
