Only 2 passengers travel to Karachi: Saad refutes propaganda against Eid trains

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique Monday refuting propaganda against special Eid trains, clarified that these trains usually return empty and there is no fault in Pakistan Railways` planning.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, the minister said that Pakistan Railways has enhanced its income at record level, while controlled its expenditures in recent years due to government successful measures.

He said that a huge reduction of fifty percent fares of special trains has been announced on 14th, 15th and 16th of this month to facilitate public on the eve of Eidul Fitr.

A Special Eid train on Sunday reached Karachi from Lahore but carried only 7 passengers from Lahore and by the time it reached Khanewal, there were only 2 passengers left in the train. Officials claimed that there were no bookings from Lahore but the number of passengers will increase as the train moves ahead.
