Federal govt asked to grant Rs 250 million for security of Gwadar Port, Coastal Highway

QUETTA: The federal government has been recommended to approve a security plan worth Rs 250 million for security of Gwadar Port, Gwadar city and Coastal Highway.

Inspector General Police Balochistan, Amlish Khan said that while talking to journalists. He said “We have furnished recommendations to the federal government for establishing a special security division for security of Gwadar Port, Gwadar city and Coastal Highway,” adding that a sum of Rs 250 million would be spent on this plan.

He said that under this plan, 13 new check posts will be constructed on Coastal Highway from Gwadar to Uthal and 1,200 new police personnel would be recruited besides providing them with new vehicles, modern equipments, weapons and CC TV cameras.

In reply to a question, he said that over 600 personnel of Police, Levies Force and Balochistan Constabulary have been deployed for providing security to people belonging to Zikri community who would be visiting Turbat from different parts of Sindh, Balochistan and other parts of the country for offering their religious rituals.

He said that Wafaq-ul-Madaris has also been requested to extend its cooperation for controlling sectarianism in Balochistan. “Religious scholars belonging to all schools of thought have been asked to play their due role against sectarianism,” he said.
