LCCI Election: Customs agents, Progressive Group form alliance

LAHORE: The Customs Clearing Agents Association and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Progressive Group have announced alliance to contest the LCCI election 2014-15.

The announcement was made by leaders of the groups here at the Lahore Press Club during a joint press conference.

LCCI Customs Agents and Progressive Group Alliance Chairman Khalid Usman said that corruption and nepotism had been gaining momentum at the chamber with every passing year which is an open secret.

“The incumbent president has allegedly crossed all limits of corruption,” he said, adding that the chamber’s funds were being used for personal promotion and advertisement. He added that kith and kin of the influential members were being sent abroad from the chamber’s platform.

He disclosed that Piaf-Founder Alliance members have started coming forward to openly oppose the corrupt practices in the chamber.

Usman cited the example of LCCI ex-Vice President Saeeda Nazar who has joined the alliance to contest the election.

The chairman also announced the names of the corporate and associated class candidates who will contest election on the alliance ticket.

The LCCI Customs and Progressive Group Alliance announce the names of candidates, including Khalid Usman, Dr Riaz, Sanaullah Chaudhry, Hassan Raza, Riazul Hassan, Ikhlaq Ahmad, Naeem Butt and Saeeda Nazar while Muhammad Amjad, Abdul Wadood Alvi, Tahir Malik, Zafar Saeed, Khalid Ahssan, M Ijaz, Sajid Aziz Mir and Zafar Kamal will contest for associate class seats.
