Dubai customs seizes 78 heroin packets at Dubai int’l Airport

DUBAI: A man has been caught trying to pass through Dubai International Airport with 78 packets of heroin, weighing one kilogram, in his stomach.

It was the largest haul of narcotics by Dubai Customs this year, reports The National.

Falah Al Sammak, Customs manager at Terminal 2, said: “Dubai Customs inspectors became suspicious when he walked past passport control into the Customs inspection zone because he looked unnaturally frantic and anxious.

“Officers searched the man’s luggage and X-rayed him as he tried to enter the country, revealing that packets stuffed with narcotics had been injested.

The man told officers he did not know what he had swallowed and that he had received them at an Asian airport.

He said he was due to deliver them to someone in the UAE.
