Customs serves ONOs on black tea smugglers

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I has issued Order-in-Originals (ONOs) against three accused persons namely Kashif Aftab, Yasir Paracha and others in their alleged involvement in smuggling of foreign origin black tea (Kenya) from the route of Afghan Transit Trade.

The Collector of Customs Adjudication-I, Ahmed Mujtaba Memon in his judgment has ordered to outright confiscate the 111,376 kilogram of Kenyan tea involving Rs 51,199,785 and Rs 20,101,037 duty/taxes.

Among those three cases, one was constituted by Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Preventive while other two cases were established by the Customs Intelligence & Investigation-FBR, Karachi.

Both the agencies on the secret information raided the godowns of those alleged persons and seized huge quantity of smuggled black tea originated from Kenya.
