KCCI, UK-PAK chamber ink MoU to enhance bilateral trade

KARACHI: Senior Vice President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Muffasar Atta Malik has said that KCCI’s delegation successfully participated in the “UK-Pakistan Trade Festival” organized recently by Consulate General of Pakistan at The Great Hall in Manchester Town Hall.

KCCI’s delegation, which was led by Muffasar Atta Malik, Senior Vice President, comprised Muhammad Idrees, Vice President, Naveed Farooki, Chairman, Fairs, Exhibitions & Trade Delegations Sub-Committee and Exhibitors of Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Besides KCCI, other Chambers including Rawalpindi Chamber, Sialkot Chamber, Khairpur Chamber and Azad Jammu & Kashmir Chamber also participated in the exhibition.

Sharing details of KCCI delegation’s recent visit to UK, SVP KCCI informed that a total of 35 stalls were set up at the exhibition in which Pakistani products of different sectors including Textiles, Leather, Garments, Food & Beverages, Consultancy Services, Gems & Artificial Jewelry, Woven Fabrics and Textile Made-ups were exhibited.

Furthermore, he said that an Executive Dinner reception was also attended by KCCI delegation in which an award was presented to KCCI by Gordon Birtwistle, Member of the UK Parliament in recognition of their support and cooperation to make the event a success.

During UK-Pakistan Trade Festival, KCCI delegation also held detailed discussions with Mr. Lyn Shaw Miexx, Director, UK Trade & Investment North, who was particularly briefed about the role of KCCI in facilitating its members and efforts being made to enhance bilateral trade and investment between both countries.

KCCI delegation also visited Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce & Industry where they met with Chris Fletcher, Director of Policy & Communication and Ms. Stacey Byrne, International Business Development Manager to discuss matters of mutual interest.

KCCI delegation, during its visit to Blue Chip Gravity Ltd., Digital Media Agency, was briefed on “Doing Business in Virtual Markets” by Muhammad Anwaar.

KCCI delegation also met a delegation from Yorkshire Asian Business Association (YABA) which was headed by its Director Amjad Pervez. Speaking on the occasion, Muffasar Atta Malik emphasized that both sides should work collectively to achieve common goal of enhancing bilateral trade. He, while underscoring the need to enhance more interaction, invited office bearers and members of YABA to visit KCCI in near future, which was readily accepted.

Muffasar Ata Malik, Senior Vice President, KCCI and Abdul Majeed Shaheen, President, UK Pak Chamber of Commerce & Industry London signed an MOU between both the chambers during a meeting held in London, UK. Muhammad Idrees, Vice President, Mr. Naveed Farooki, Chairman, Fairs, Exhibitions & Trade Delegations and Zahid Iqbal, Member Managing Committee KCCI were also present on the occasion. During the meeting, both sides discussed ways and means to enhance mutual trade and measures to assist each other’s members.
